Riedel Crystal
January 2002 Chardonnay glass from Riedel Vinum collection

Riedel Crystal is introducing a new line of glasses exclusively for commercial use. The new Restaurant Collection is available exclusively to restaurants, hotels and clubs and its pricing is extremely competitive.

The glassware set, based on Riedel Vinum bowls, comes in eight shapes designed to enhance the enjoyment of the beverage. There are glasses styled for red wines including Cabernet/Merlot, Syrah/Shiraz/Malbec, Pinot Noir/Nebbiolo and Zinfandel/Sangiovese. Additional glasses for Chardonnay, Viognier, sparkling wines and water are also available.

The glasses have the same fine-tuned bowls, aesthetic and functionality as other Riedel collections. Fine, thin polished-rim bowls direct wine precisely to the palate's correct zone for each wine. However, unlike Riedel's other collections, these glasses are produced from non-lead glass and have wide balanced bases that are elegant yet stable- footed. Their round seamless stems are slightly thicker than Vinum's, designed to withstand the wear and tear of on-premise use as well as fit in industrial dishwashers.

This is the third collection used by restaurants. The original mouth blown, hand made crystal Sommeliers collection was adopted by three-star restaurants. Many two-star restaurants picked up Vinum's machine-blown conservatively priced collection. Riedel's Restaurant collection was created specifically to cater to the broader on-premise market with good taste in wine.
