Silk Road Hot Buttered Rum

 

Mystic has a long and storied nautical history, so a hot buttered rum is perfect for the winter months. This recipe uses The Real McCoy Rum, a local rum company founded in Mystic. There are notes of warm spices and the exotic hint of saffron.

 

Ingredients

Drink
 1 ½ oz Dark Rum
 ½ oz Italian Walnut Liquor
 6 oz Hot Water
 Whipped Cream (garnish)
 Cinnamon Stick (garnish)
 2 tbsp Butter Mixture (see below)
Butter Mixture
 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
 1 tsp Saffron Syrup
 1 tsp Ground Ginger
 ¼ tsp Ground Cloves
 ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
 ¾ tsp Ground Cinnamon
 ¼ tsp Light Brown Sugar
 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
 Pinch of Salt

 

Directions

Drink

In a heatproof mug, add the rum, walnut liquor, and 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture

Top with hot water, then garnish with whipped cream and a cinnamon stick

Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl

Beat until mixed well
